“Cabin-trip” by MYL Norway

The Resource Committee is a sub-branch of the youth organization Minhaj Youth League (Norway). This committee consists of volunteers who actively want to contribute and put efforts in MYL’s projects. The RC has a close collaboration with the board of MYL, and is an important factor in MYL’s work.

One of RC’s goals is to “give members the opportunity to get in closer touch/contact with Minhaj Youth League.” In this context, the board of MYL, led by Awais Ejaz, President MYL Norway, organized a “cabin-trip” for the brothers of the Resource Committee. The main purpose of this trip was to get to know each other and connect, through socializing activities. MYL has previously arranged similar trips, but never any trip for their resource committee. This year's trip was to Nøtterøy with a radius of 6 km from Tønsberg Centrum. The board had rented cabins in Fjærholmen, with an idyllic location by the sea.

On Saturday morning, 17 people met up at Minhaj-ul-Quran (Oslo). Instructions were given to drivers about the way to the destination and possible meeting points. Soon after departure, the group went to Oslo Centrum to get a bite. After filling their stomachs, the group drove towards Tønsberg. Despite weather reports, it started to rain heavily. After one and a half hour of driving the group arrived at the destination. Upon arrival the group quickly engaged in grouping itself in different cabins.

Once the luggage was placed the boys changed to training clothes for outdoor activities, despite rainy weather outside. With great enthusiasm clothes were changed and people were ready to play football. The rain had slowed down, and that made it possible to play. When the group arrived at the soccer field, they were divided into three teams. This was a golden opportunity for the old lads to show their skills. The boys played continuously for 4 hours. After a while, people got hungry and decided to go back to the cabins and change, and later eat. Due to unfortunate weather, barbequing was not an option anymore. Therefore it was decided to find a restaurant in Tønsberg town. When the group returned in the evening, everyone gathered in the biggest cabin to play games with religious themes. For example a board game with questions about general knowledge, derived from Ahadith Al-Nabawiyyah. In addition, other games and activities like storytelling were included, and everyone had a great time. These activities lasted till Salat-ul-Fajr, when everyone was instructed to get some sleep and clean the cabin before 12 AM.

On the last day, except from cleaning the cabins, cars were also cleaned. After handing in the cabin’s keys, everyone ate breakfast. The weather was sunny and hot, and outdoor activities were organized. After a day of activities and different forms of exercise, the group left for Oslo.
