Thousands of students from across the educational institutions of Lahore participated in the 'Students Peace March' from Press Club to the Governor House under the banner of Mustafavi Students Movement (MSM) on November 13, 2008. Addressing the participants at the occasion, MSM central president, Muhammad Zeeshan Baig, has demanded that occupation groups should be eliminated from the educational institutions, democratic atmosphere be created before the union elections, code of conduct be prepared with the consultation of all stakeholders especially students, effective steps be taken to maintain peace and order in the educational institutions and equal opportunities to take part in elections be given to all student groups.

Senior Vice President, Amjad Hussain Jutt, has said the students play effective role in the progress and prosperity of nations and hence deserve maximum attention of the government. The welfare of students is on the top of agenda of MSM. He said MSM was working hard on reviving the dying relationship between students and books under a carefully planned system.

Secretary General MSM, Sajid Gondal, said in his speech that there was no doubt in the fact that the students had key role to play in the development and progress of societies. He said MSM believed in the steps which could bring about prosperity in the motherland, enabling it to join the ranks of developed nations. In the presence of terrorist groups in the campuses, establishment of peace in the educational institutions still remained a pipedream. He asked the government to play its due role in this regard.

Former top officer bearers of MSM, Muhammad Hanif Mustafvi, Tanveer Khan, Lateef Sandhu, Bilal Mustafvi, secretary information Muhammad Hafeez Kayani, Rizwan Ali, Islamil Inam and Saeed Khan also spoke at the occasion. They said MSM was the only representative organization of the students which stood for the protection of rights of students and promotion of their interests through peaceful means.
